Cancun's calling card is its sizzling nightlife! The entire city seems raring for a party any time of day.
Popular daytime restaurants like Planet Hollywood and Senor Frogs turn into nighttime discos. Even hotels host happy-hours or Mexican fiesta nights making lobby-bar-hopping a popular night out. Most hotel happy-hour admission prices include dinner, dancing, live entertainment and all drinks.
Cancun's night clubs (commonly referred to as 'discotheques') are packed all year long, but are especially hopping during peak holiday seasons like spring break. On weekends you'll likely be forced to wait in line, but don't even think of making your way to the clubs until 11 pm, when things are just getting started.
The good news is that Cancun nightclubs serve drinks until the sun comes up (around 5 or 6 am). Many of Cancun's nightclubs charge a flat cover, which includes all drinks. All-inclusive discos are very expensive, but if you plan to drink a lot they may be worth the $40 to $60 cover. You will typically pay between $15 and $25 for cover charges at Cancun's non-inclusive discos, which charge approximately $6 per drink.
If it's your first night in Cancun you might want to buy a ticket for the Bar Crawl Tour. Tickets are available for about $50, which includes bus transportation to five of Cancun's hottest discos. A ticket on the Bar Crawl tour gets you past club line-ups and you'll get to sample one drink at each club. It's a great way to explore Cancun's nightlife and pencil in your nightclub schedule for the rest of your vacation.
